Update on my Daughter

My daughter has had ANOTHER round of testing yesterday and hopefully the last. I know I am a little biased because we are going through a tough time these days, I really hate it when I go to a hospital and they worker do not take their jobs seriously. I am an IT Tech and I hate it when my coworkers don' t do their job seriously. However, when we screw up, people are inconvenienced. When Health Care workers screw up, people DIE. Here is what happened. My daughter is 6lbs 1oz she was born 5lbs 13 oz, and was as  low as 5lbs and 6oz. Since my daughter was so small she has to have the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, I think, feel free to tell me if I am wrong.)  Well the ladies there are wonderful and they are really the only reason we go to this hospital. Well the lady from the Draw Station is not so wonderful. When the Nurses from NICU met us the Blood Draw Nurse gave them 3x 4.5 ml vials of blood to draw which is a lot out of an infant especially one as small as my daughter. The NICU ladies immediately asked her if she was sure this was right because obviously they are used to drawing a lot less. The Blood Draw Lady said "I THINK SO". Seriously? This asked you for to check your blood work not if you have the correct change.  The asked her to call them lab which she did and realized that one of the vials was too large, and when challenged again the blood draw nurse told her just to fill one of them to the top. This is not giving us a lot of confidence that she knew what she was doing. This is extremely hard as this is the second time we are doing this test and it is pretty hard for us as parents to go through. My daughter is a champ she didn't even flinch. However, my wife and I are seriously grateful for the NICU nurses who had no problem standing up for our daughter, and told the Blood Draw Nurse that they will get what they feel is comfortable unless the Blood Draw Nurse was willing to prove in her orders that it should be different.Thank the Lord that SOME people still believe in doing the best job they can do, instead of trying to get through the day.
